Welcome Class of 2013!
Dear EKU Student,
I want to extend a warm welcome to all new and returning students. I hope you will have a rewarding and successful academic life at Eastern Kentucky University! My office and the rest of IT are here to support your success as members of the Eastern community.
Eastern strongly encourages the use of technology in all academic endeavors. This is just one reason why there is such a complete Ethernet and wireless coverage on campus, including the residence halls. Most EKU students bring a computer with them to campus but for those who cannot, there are numerous IT labs (and labs for different academic offices) located around campus, including in the lobbies of each of the residence halls.
During your time as a student at the University, I am sure you will use many IT resources that are available to you as a student. Many of those services are available through the ResNet Help Desk. Our office will assist you in many ways, including connecting your computer, game consoles, and mobile devices to the campus network.
My office is comprised of myself and around 6 student technology support personnel. Some of our other supported services include assistance with:
- Security problems (virus and malware removal)
- Resetting your Ekey password
- W: drive connection
- Combs 230 Student Technology Labs
- Computer clusters in the residence hall lobbies
- Technology Training
- Drop-off, Walk-in, and Phone support
- Electronics Recycling
- Support website for ResNet connected students
- Knowledgebase
In addition to the resources and programs to support your academic work and your life here at Eastern that are highlighted in this letter, there are many additional resources made available to you through various IT offices. Please know that we are here to support your success as a member of Eastern community. I look forward to meeting you and working with you during your time at the University.
